On May 7 at 5:00PM, the Rio Grande Hospital Wellness Center is hosting something a little different—and a lot meaningful.
Led by local artist Jocelyn Catterson and presented in partnership with The Church Project, this guided experience invites you to slow down, tune in, and express what’s happening beneath the surface.
What is Body Mapping?
Body mapping is a creative process that blends meditation and art to help you better understand your internal world.
The workshop begins with a body scan meditation—a simple but powerful way to notice how you’re feeling physically, emotionally, and energetically.
From there, you’ll translate that experience onto paper using:
- Color
- Shape
- Words
- Symbols
You can work on a life-sized body tracing or a smaller format, whatever feels comfortable. There’s no right or wrong way to do this. The goal isn’t to create something polished, it’s to create something honest.
Why It Matters
Most people move through their days without ever stopping to ask, “How am I actually feeling?”
This workshop creates space for:
- Self-awareness
- Emotional release
- Reflection and personal storytelling
- Connection—with yourself and others
And importantly, you won’t be doing it alone. These shared creative spaces tend to open the door to real, grounded connection in a way that’s hard to force anywhere else.
What to Expect
- A welcoming, low-pressure environment
- Guided meditation to help you settle in
- Hands-on creative time with all materials provided
- Dinner from Sabor de Vida Catering
- A chance to step out of your routine and into something meaningful
Wear something comfortable...and maybe not your favorite shirt.
